Dulux Acratex

Reconciliation artwork · National corporate · 2025

The brief
As part of its Reconciliation Action Plan, Dulux Acratex wanted to communicate its commitment to reconciliation in a way that was authentic and culturally grounded — something staff and stakeholders could genuinely connect with, not a generic statement.

The artwork & its story
Creating this artwork for Dulux Acratex was an incredible honour. Inspired by Uncle Kev Carmody's song "From Little Things Big Things Grow," the piece reflects Acratex's journey from a simple idea — John, the founder, mixing sand with paint — into a thriving business. At the heart, red seeds mixed with paint and sand symbolise these humble beginnings, radiating outward through intricate dot work to represent community and collective effort. Native river red gum and wattle leaves honour Kaurna Country. Framing the artwork, the Torrens River flows through line and dot patterns, symbolising renewal and continuous growth on Kaurna Land.

What I delivered
A major commissioned artwork, delivered with its story, provenance and usage guidance — alongside a professionally filmed interview documenting the artwork and my creative process.
